Revitalization Cuff

Evidence of wheels date back to 8000 BC in Asia; the oldest artifact is from Mesopotamia from 3500 BC and in India, spinning wheels were used as early as 1000 BC. Mahatma Gandhi used a small table top spinning wheel to demonstrate self sufficiency, and it became a symbol of the Indian Independence Movement. Interestingly, this style of spinning wheel is called a ‘Charkha’, and comes from the same root as the word ‘chakra’ which also means ‘spinning wheel’.

This cuff was made out of metals from an ancient wheel -- thus progressing powers in the band. The wheel also functioned as a description of the cosmos (mandala) in many cultures and Jung used mandalas as a way of getting in touch with the unconscious self. He believed the act of painting mandalas had therapeutic applications for discovering underlying patterns in behavior. The concept of cycles, or patterns probably came from observing the moon and its cycles.

Early calendars and time pieces are on wheels. Reincarnation, fortune, fate, and eternity are all tied to the object metaphorically. Another well known symbol in India is the Ashoka chakra which has 24 spokes (like the hours in a day) it is known as the dharmachakra, each of the spokes represents one of the twenty four virtues :- love, courage, patience, peacefulness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, selflessness, self sacrifice, truthfulness, righteousness, justice, mercy, graciousness, humility, empathy, sympathy, godly knowledge, godly wisdom, godly morality, reverential fear of God, and faith that God is good.

The real take away is that of the cycle and the continuous dynamic nature of life. The Blood, Sweat and Tears lyric 'What goes up, must come down. Spinning wheel, got to go round,' illustrates the essential message of this bracelet, as does Ecclesiastes 3 ‘…a time for every purpose under heaven.'

Like a revolving door, we only see a small section of the whole. When you wear this piece, a cycle is coming to a close and a new one is beginning. Concentrate on correcting any sluggish spinning in your chakras. We are only here for a short time in this particular guise so remember that this moment is just a phase. The life cycle, birth, life, death and rebirth continuously cycle until full awareness is realized and we understand the true nature of reality.
