Haunted Curiousities

A few summers back, some friends of mine and I decided to take a camping trip. We all met early in the morning with all of our gear and set out for the woods. We had decided to go somewhere we hadn't before, so this part of the woods was new to all of us. We started walking through the trees, taking in the wonderful sights of the forest as we passed. These woods seemed to glisten with a beauty I had never seen before, and my friends all thought so too. We kept on walking, passing a few small streams and interesting rock formations. Eventually we came across a clearing, and decided that it was the perfect place to set up camp. <br /><br />

We finished up our camp site setup, complete with a fire pit for roasting marshmallows with log seats surrounding it. Very satisfied with our work, we decided it was time for some real fun. We all went into separate tents, slipped into our swimsuits, and went back to the biggest stream we passed on our way to the clearing. As soon as it was in sight we began running to see who would be the first to jump in. Luckily I was first, jumping into what looked like the deepest part of the stream. As I entered the water, the cooling and refreshing feeling of the stream water washed over me, and I started sinking to the stream floor. As my foot touched the bottom, I felt the various rocks and sediments there, but then I felt something strange. <br /><br />

Before I began to float to the surface of the stream I managed to kick up whatever it was I had felt from the bottom. I was successful in separating the sediments from the strange object, and I grasped the object in my hand. As I gazed upon what I had found, I was surprised in its flawless condition. I put it into my pocket not thinking too much of it, and continued to have a good time with my friends. <br /><br />

Night came quickly and before too long we were all sitting around the fire telling stories of the past and laughing hard. Once it was getting late, everyone's tiredness was becoming apparent, so we all said goodnight and retired to our tents. As I laid in my tent, I looked back on the wonderful day I had, and wished for another roasted marshmallow to top it all off with. Just as I did, my pocket glowed with a bright light for a second, and then out of nowhere, a freshly-roasted marshmallow dropped right onto my pillow! I reached into my pocket and looked at the strange item I found in the stream. I felt a strange magical energy I had felt only once or twice before, and after a few minutes of thinking I realized that this item contained a djinn of substantial power! I was extremely lucky to find it the way I did, and a few days later I brought the item into Haunted Curiosities, only to confirm my beliefs. <br /><br />
