This piece comes from a friend of mine that majors in philosophy and world religion. He went to study abroad, in Italy, where he was concentrating on learning the ins and outs of Roman philosophy and religious history. While he was there he was able to visit many historical landmarks including museums and the like. he picked up this piece from a street vendor in Florence, who told him that it would give him incredible magical powers of the ancient Roman goddess of the sea, but it didn't; so, he sent it to me as a joke-- then it did!
When he sent it to me, he did so with a wisecrack note, stating that I "believe in all this fantastical make believe." You see, my friend has a realistic approach on things ever since he began studying religion. Nevertheless, I ran tests on the piece, confirmed my suspicion and then mailed the piece back to my friend. A year or so later when he returned home from Europe, we planned a weekend get away to Stony Harbor. I made sure that he had the piece with and ordered him to wear it on his person while being submerged in the salt water. Then the crap hit the fan.
Just as I had suspected, he began to take the form of an Oceanid. Oceanids are gods or goddesses of the sea, who were the daughters and sons of Neptune and Salacia. The Oceanids ruled over the elements and riches of the ocean. They reigned supreme over all the creatures of the depths of the ocean.
Obviously, with this piece, you will be able to take the form of one of these Oceanids. This gift comes from Salacia, Roman goddess of saltwater. When you have this piece in your possession and it comes in contact with saltwater, you will be transformed into one of the sons or daughters of Salacia.
